The analytical statement of the state's general budget for the fiscal year 2025/2026, submitted by Finance Minister Ahmed Kajouk to the House of Representatives headed by Counselor Dr. Hanafi Jebali, revealed continued growth in the real estate wealth tax, to record about 3.166 billion pounds, compared to 2.753 billion pounds expected during the fiscal year 2024/2025.
This development reflects an upward trend in real estate revenues, where the yield reached about 2.730 billion pounds in 2023/2024, versus 1.820 billion pounds during 2022/2023, and 1.842 billion pounds in 2021/2022. The increase underscores the government's efforts to expand the tax collection base and boost the state's non-movable assets resources, in line with fiscal reform and tax justice plans.
The real estate wealth tax is imposed on real estate units built in accordance with Real Estate Tax Law No. 196 of 2008 and its amendments. Through this tax, the government aims to achieve tax justice through the contribution of real estate owners to the financing of public services, with exemptions for apartments that are below a certain threshold.
